Established in 1989, Laurel Lake Retirement Community is a non-profit organization located in Hudson, Ohio. The community offers a variety of housing styles across 150 acres of space and many amenities for its residents. The goal for RDL was to update and expand Laurel Lake’s core amenities to enhance resident wellness and satisfaction, a concept known as a Center for Healthy Living.
RDL’s scope included additions and renovations to the Community Room and Dining Room, and a new multipurpose space.
Dining Room renovations included a new built-in demonstration cooking station with an acoustical perforated wood ceiling system to allow natural light from the existing skylight. The “Old Pub” was renovated into a multi-use space to create a social room for classes and theater, with connection to the main dining room for overflow dining. In the Community Room, upgraded technology, lighting controls and a hearing loop improve the quality of the entertainment experience while operable walls maximize flexibility. New furniture, finishes, and window treatments were selected with aesthetics and acoustics in mind.
The addition also included “Pat’s Patio,” a 1,375 square foot multipurpose space with outdoor views and custom built-in casework.
