The site of the former 6-acre Baymeadows golf course which closed in 2005 is being redeveloped into a featured mixed-use destination in Jacksonville. The commercial development is designed to complement the residential phase that has been approved, and will consist of a 100-key hotel, 35,000 square feet of reserved retail and restaurant space, and 8,000 square feet of office space and standalone cafe on the second floor.
The Placemaking effort incorporates a strong Floridan architectural style and highlights the natural occurring elements of the site’s surroundings. Welcoming gateways are featured at both the front and rear entrances of the development. Distinct dining areas are created using covered patio seating, and paseos with softscapes and special lighting are integrated throughout the site to accentuate Florida’s compelling climate and unique vegetation.
